Helping People Communicate, Repair, and Connect

About Couples Therapy

Relationships can be deeply rewarding, but they also come with challenges—especially when communication breaks down or emotional connection starts to feel distant. In our work with couples, we draw from evidence-based approaches to help partners reconnect and grow together:

1. The Gottman Method

focuses on strengthening the foundation of your relationship through improved communication, conflict management, and emotional trust. Based on decades of research, it offers practical tools to help couples understand each other’s needs, repair past hurts, and build a deeper sense of friendship and shared meaning.

2. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

helps couples explore the emotional patterns that shape their interactions. Rooted in attachment theory, EFT supports partners in expressing vulnerability, responding with empathy, and creating a secure emotional bond. It is especially helpful for couples feeling stuck in cycles of disconnection or distress.

3. Discernment Counseling/Dissolution/Divorce

is when couples are unsure whether to stay together or separate, discernment counseling offers a structured, short-term space to explore that decision. It is especially helpful when one partner is leaning toward divorce and the other is hoping to work things out. Rather than jumping into traditional couples therapy, this approach helps both partners gain clarity about the future of the relationship—whether that means committing to repair, choosing to part ways, or taking more time to decide. If dissolution or divorce becomes the path forward, we also offer supportive counseling to help couples navigate the transition from spouses to co-parents.
